Orthopaedic patients typically discharged home after surgery |

Patients who require brief intense rehabilitation (typically less than 20 days) |

Individuals with recent diagnosis of an acute cardiac event |
Criteria for Admission to The Rapid Recovery Unit
|
Recent surgical event preventing individual from being discharged home from the hospital |
|
Cognitive status that allows for full participation in the education and therapeutic components |
|
Prior level of function of modified or full independence in ADLs and ambulation |

Goal of returning home |
Scope of Services
|
An interdisciplinary approach is emphasized by a team comprised of physicians, registered and licensed nurses, dieticians, rehabilitative therapists and social services |
|
Individualized care plans will be developed and implemented as a pathway to achieve patient’s goals. |
|
In addition to therapy goals, approaches will include nursing, medical management, educational and nutritional concerns as identified. |
